Even though all wrestler characters must learn professional wrestling to join The SWS, not all of them come from the same background. Every martial art or discipline learned by the wrestler will influence their fighting style, and thus their performance, gimmick and role.
Here's a list of all current SWS fighting styles:
- Pro-Wrestling: A mix of grappling combat and showmanship skills. Trained as high performance athletes, pro-wrestlers bend their technical knowledge with their power and charisma to create a celebrity-like character of themselves. Pro wrestling focuses on entertainment; characters, narrative, production value, sex appeal, etc.
- Lucha Libre: Born from Greco-Roman wrestling mixed with Mexican culture, later incorporating performing arts stunts and acrobatics. It involves technical, competitive and showmanship skills. Luchadores (wrestlers) are commonly seen as real-life superheroes. Lucha libre focuses on technical skill, gimmicks and crowd-play (audience interaction).
- Olympic Wrestling: A combat competition where wrestlers get points by applying grapples, throws or locks. A regulated type of combat where quick thinking and technical knowledge are just as important as power. An Olympic wrestler's training usually focuses on cardio vascular conditioning, explosive strength, endurance, balance and flexibility.
- MMA: Mixed Martial Arts, just like the name implies, are the sum of multiple combat disciplines. Though showmanship may be a part of some matches, MMA is a highly competitive style. Strikes, kicks, grapples, throws, locks and many other maneuvers make this style one of the most risky combat sports, as it focuses on free-style combat and competition.
- Boxing: The money making machine of competitive sports. Boxing requires a mix of everything, from cardio to strength, great endurance and reflexes, and even strategy, since only punches are allowed. Though more restrictive than other combat sports, Boxing is still a dangerous practice which focuses on heat, competition and technique.
- Kung-Fu: Chinese martial arts combine discipline and tradition. It includes a variety of styles, all of which come with a philosophy to improve one's way of living. Though less practical and versatile than modern fighting styles, those who practice kung-fu will usually focus on developing strength, endurance, patience, discipline and flexibility.
- Sexy Wrestling: A variation of Pro-Wrestling made specifically for The SWS. Though it's not an actual martial art or very specific discipline, it focuses on showmanship and using pro-wrestling techniques that fit the show's kinky nature. Hip attacks, spanks, sentons, wedgies and even kisses are part of this fan-service kind of wrestling.
