Gimmicks

In professional wrestling, a gimmick refers to the alter-ego or in-ring persona of a wrestler. A gimmick may be entirely different from the actual character who plays it. A gimmick is what shapes the character's behavior, attire, appeal and perceived personality. It serves a narrative purpose and helps the wrestlers maintain kayfabe by giving their characters goals and personality.
